Plot Summary » Brilliant Heart Like Jade
Set during the Ming Dynasty, the story follows the romance between General Xu Lingyi and Shiyiniang, the daughter of a concubine, who started out in an arranged marriage. Despite being born with a low status, Luo Shiyiniang was extremely assertive and believed that the vision of women should not be limited to the household. She hopes to rely on her needlework skills as her ticket to freedom. However, the Luo Clan that had been respected was in a state of decay. Hoping to salvage the clan through marriage alliances, Shiyiniang was chosen as the wife of Yongping Duke and the great general Xu Lingyi.Things were not easy for Shiyiniang as the Xu Family was prejudiced against her, however she was able to overcome her predisposition. Their trust was achieved with her optimism and sincerity. Xu Lingyi was also enamored by Shiyiniang's beautiful qualities, such as where a husband and wife could find love after marriage. With the support of Xu Lingyi, Shiyiniang opened the Xian Ling Pavillion to have her own embroidery workshop. Meanwhile, Xu Lingyi suffered a lot of setbacks as he tried to protect his hometown and improve people's well-being by encouraging the abolition of the navigation embargo. As they faced a crisis that could end the Xu Clan, Xu Lingyi and Shiyiniang continued to support each other through both thick and thin.
